If you believe her, then I am also sitting on a mountain of gold based on a text I received from relatives asking permission to dig the middle of my ancestral property because the “treasure hunters” claimed there’s is gold buried in it. My husband quickly retorted “oh! You meant Western Union?”
Bashing Imelda again you might ask?
Well, why not?
She really should just let it all go because at 80 years old, that much gold would only hinder her ascension to heaven. And these include all the Picassos fake or otherwise, the diamonds, the tiaras and the sceptres apparently for the saints. I have been told by God that the Saints are not calorie deficient and hardly suffer from malnutrition so it would be beneficial if they may be of use to others like the poor and malnourished.
Imelda is not going to get the 3 lots of Jewellery into her possession. She can beg all she wants. As much as I would like to see her cry albeit crocodile tears, I would rather she stayed away from public view instead of torturing us mere mortals with the presence of an extraordinary delusional being who sacrificed the nation for her own vanity. She is not poor, and according to the brilliance of her attorney poor means poor to Imelda relative to what she was accustomed to during the mania stage of her reign. She is poor maybe because she couldn’t spend US10 million at Louis Vuitton buying suitcases and filling it up at the Cartier’s convenience store in New York.
Well, where are her children? Has she been abandoned now that she is destitute? In the Philippines, family supports each other. So where are the governor son and the Araneta daughter? Surely help is forthcoming especially from the Romualdez’s of Tacloban which glitters with relatives who have been or are members of the highest political offices in the land. Actually, I would like to plead with the member for Leyte, Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, to help her Auntie Imelda as I am sure that he has room in his flashy Makati home. But come to think of it, maybe not according to the big parrot that landed on my carcass, because he is the same congressman who joined Kampi the midget party whose father lost to the original Ferdi.
The best idea according to the hundreds of bloggers is to display Imelda’s Jewels, like a pay per view and pay per entry. Voyeurism pays you know and it’s hardly affected by the crisis in fact it will provide a cheaper alternative to porn. A permanent display at the Banko Sentral was thrown in. But for me the best place would be at the House of Representatives, and an internet pay per view. It has to be a secured display or else one by one they might be loaned to the WAG-R (wives and girlfriends of representatives) or worse replaced with Vietnamese fakes. And we would be forever having a Senate Committee on Fakery. It’s bad enough that we are bombarded by the antics of Doktora to the constellations Vicky Belo. Even if that’s the case Ferdinand Romualdez should tell Auntie Imelda that “if you live in the past then you stay there”. (His own words not mine.)

I reckon euro and dollar would come like “habagat” and the trickle-down effect would be an actual than imagined blessing to our economy which could be a solution to our dependence on OFW’s. It is actually a better attraction than the Manila slums which happened to be a magnet for foreign NGO’s. As my friend said over bibingka and hot chocolate “it’s about time you numbskulls need to make money off that woman!!!”
I agree. As long as the BIR and Bureau of Customs people are not involved or manning the doors, I will pay to get in.
So, Tim Yap you wana be like Imelda?
Ms. Marcos eventually had to address the issue herself:
I plead guilty. For me, greedy is giving. I was first lady for 20 years, you have to be greedy first to give to all. It is natural. The only things we keep in life are those we give away.
Imelda didn’t worry about her taste for luxury. She said in interviews with CNN and The Business Inquirer Network that: “...At least when they went into my closets they found shoes not skeletons.” She did admit that: “...They will use Imeldific to mean ostentatious extravagance,” but seemed proud of this fact. The obsession with shoes and designer fashion which seems to afflict many is called ‘Imelda Marcos Syndrome’.
TinyTim and Celine BB visted tondo when Prince Cashigari did charity work there.
Hoy boldstar maawa ka naman kay madam DAW?
Maawa?
Mag-dusa ka!
Madam Imelda says "It's the rich you can terrorize. The poor have nothing to lose. I would have to ask the public to choose between a culture of hate or a culture of love. I am sure our poor will pick the latter. With the Marcos assets, we could regain this value of sharing love with one another."
Kaya mo yan Boldstar?
Dear Boldstar,
Madam says...
"'Nouveau riche' is better than 'no riche.'
"I have never been a material girl. My father always told me never to love anything that cannot love you back."
"People say I'm extravagant because I want to be surrounded by beauty. But tell me, who wants to be surrounded by garbage?"
"Win or loose, we go shopping after the election."
"If you know how rich you are, you are not rich. But me, I am not aware of the extent of my wealth. That's how rich we are."
"Never dress down for the poor. They won't respect you for it. They want their First Lady to look like a million dollars."
"They call me corrupt, frivolous. I am not at all privileged. Maybe the only privileged thing is my face. And corrupt? God! I would not look like this if I am corrupt. Some ugliness would settle down on my system."
"Filipinos want beauty. I have to look beautiful so that the poor Filipinos will have a star to look at from their slums."
"I was born ostentatious. They will list my name in the dictionary someday. They will use 'Imeldific' to mean ostentatious extravagance."
"I hate ugliness. You know I'm allergic to ugliness."
"The problems with First Ladies is that you have to set the standard. My role is to be both star and slave."
"I was no Marie Antoinette. I was not born to nobility, but I had a human right to nobility."
"I get so tired listening to one million dollars here, one million dollars there, it's so petty."
"It is terribly important to do certain things, such as wear overembroidered dresses. After all, the mass follows class. Class never follows mass."
"God is love. I have loved. Therefore, I will go to heaven."
"We practically own everything in the Philippines."
"When they see me holding fish, they can see that I am comfortable with kings as well as with paupers."
"It's the rich you can terrorize. The poor have nothing to loose."
kakaloka si madame parang kambal ni tiny... "I was no Marie Antoinette. I was not born to nobility, but I had a human right to nobility."
oo nga no she is not poor she is living in a very expensive condo
With the Marcos assets, we could regain this value of sharing love with one another."

boldstar is correct i don't believe imelda meant unconditional love meldi meant sharing love in a one way street.
she dresses up and people to love her for it. NAKAKABALIW TALAGA
That is why the unexplained wealth law was passed. It is difficult to prove that an official’s wealth is stolen. Naturally, they take pains to hide the theft. So the law says the official must be able to explain satisfactorily how he acquired his wealth. Failing that, the unexplained wealth is assumed ill-gotten and is confiscated by the government.
The law was meant to discourage public officials from succumbing to the temptation of stealing from the people. The burden of proof is on the official (for him to prove that the wealth was acquired legally) and not on the government (no need for it to prove that it was stolen).

imelda baliw
Ulo mo'y maiiling, tatawagin mong hangal
May isang hindi baliw, iba ang awit na alam
Buong araw kung magdasal, sinungaling rin naman
Many of the pieces were meant for religious images, including “tiaras for the Blessed Virgin Mary”, said the former first lady,
baliw na baliw
then why did Gonzalez issued a ststement after he was out of office. ??????
“God is love. I have loved. Therefore, I will go to heaven.”
(Imelda to Pope Paul VI, who responded, ‘Oh, how wonderful, how childlike!’)
Silly you honestly think that most her prize jewelries are still in THERE?
Imelda is a crazy thief... Ibalik ang ni-nakaw like tinytim!
Grown in poverty and forced to being down at the heel /which was among the famous explanations of her later addiction to shoes/, Imelda Marcos compensates the early ears of destitute with unprecedented improvidence. Her private plane is furnished with golden taps, the minimal rate of the flowers that decorate her hotel apartments around the world on duty, is $1000 and her caprices are never-ending. She goes so far as to deport “The Beatles” who were on a visit for a concert only because they refused to play at her residence – “in ear”.Imelda’s version about the huge quantity of shoes she possessed is different, though. She states that she had never had 3000 pairs but only 1600 and that buying these chic complements to her dressing, she had assisted to the development of the shoe industry in her motherland. In 2002 the widow of the Filipino dictator Ferdinand Marcos sees her 73 birthday wearing silver shoes and impressive red dress. On the splendid party she delivers a fiery speech about her upsurge and disgrace, saying pathetically: “The Lord blessed me with everything that this world can offer – the best and the worst.” In 2005 Imelda Marcos created a shoe museum in Manila and did a great donation of her own boots. Among the most expensive exhibits are the products of Ferragamo, Chanel, Christian Dior, Givenchy, etc. This time Imelda’s motives were two – on one hand, just like before – to stimulate the shoe industry in the Philippines, but on the other – to quicken the interest of the foreigners and to encourage the tourism.

I think the greatest crime she did was indifference. I understand that some of her "possessions and collections" were just gifts. (But who are we kidding right?) But okay, let's give her that. But the fact that millions of Filipinos were suffering in hunger, poverty, and human rights violations during the latter part of their regime and that she/they displayed this kind of wealth and proliferated the idea/image of "beauty" despite this is plain unforgivable. (The elitista standpoint would be: It's not their fault they became rich or that people gave them gifts anyway.) But the thing is, they are the supposed leaders of the country at that time. Even if she was just the spouse, they themselves promoted this "Ama and Ina" image from the start. And there's just so much suffering going on to behave like that or to not to care. Simply put, it was too much already.
And until now, the victims of human rights violations (I should know, trust me), are not compensated/given justice.
So that's my answer to your question: What's this baloney about?
The Supreme Court (SC) revived the case against two brothers and a sister-in-law of former First Lady Imelda Marcos and five former officials in connection with the multi-million behest loans of their company, Golden Country Farms, Inc. (GCFI).
The SC has ordered the Ombudsman to file graft charges against Armando Romualdez, his wife Vilma Romualdez, Alfredo Romualdez and Juan Syquian, stockholders and officers of GCFI; and Panfilo Domingo, Conrado Reyes, Zosimo Malabanan, Jose Tengco, Placido Mapa and Verden Dangilan, then officers and members of the board of directors of National Investment Development Corp. and Development Bank of the Philippines.
The case was revived 11 year after the Office of the Ombudsman junked it in 1998.
In a 17-page decision penned by Associate Justice Conchita Carpio-Morales, the Second Division of the Court reversed and set aside the resolution issued on Aug. 19, 1998 by then Ombudsman Aniano Desierto dismissing the complaint for violation of Section 3 (e) and (g) of RA 3019 (Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act) filed by the Presidential Ad Hoc Fact-Finding Committee on Behest Loans against the relatives of the former first lady and several former government officials.
Desierto junked the graft charges against the respondents due to insufficiency of evidence and on the ground that the alleged offenses they committed have already prescribed, adding that the government did not suffer any damage as NIDC and DBP assumed ownership over GCFI due to its failure to pay the loans obtained in 1975 and 1976.
But the SC ruled that there is a probable cause to compel the respondents to face trial for the charges.
“The duty of the Ombudsman in the conduct of a preliminary investigation is to establish whether there exists probable cause to file an information in court against the accused. Considering the quantum of evidence needed to support a finding of probable cause, the Court holds that the Ombudsman gravely abused his discretion when he found such to be lacking here,” the Court said.
Records showed that GCFI had an outstanding balance of P211.95 million owing to NIDC as of June 30, 1986 and of P302.68 million to DBP as of Dec. 31, 1986.
The Presidential Commission on Good Government wants to auction off “as soon as possible” a huge cache of jewelry seized from Imelda Marcos, the widow of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos, worth an estimated P15 billion, a PCGG official said Thursday.
PCGG Commissioner Ricardo Abcede said the jewelry, which are deposited in a vault at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, should be sold because the government needed the money.
“My staff is studying whether we can have an electronic auction. I am really determined to do this because the government is cash-strapped,” Abcede told a press briefing.
“If we can sell real estate, stocks, radio stations, why not this jewelry? I want them sold as soon as possible. No ifs and buts,” he said.
“I consider these non-performing assets. That’s why we are considering an electronic auction so that we can fetch the highest price,” he said.
The PCGG has customarily referred to the Imelda jewelry as consisting of three collections, because they were seized at different times after the first People Power Revolution that brought down Marcos in 1986.
These are the MalacaƱang collection, which consists of jewelry recovered from the Palace after the Marcos family and their associates fled the country in 1986; the Honolulu collection, so-called because they were confiscated by United States customs authorities from the fleeing Marcoses when they landed in Hawaii; and the so-called Roumeliotes collection, after Demetriou Roumeliotes, a Greek friend of Imelda, who was caught by customs officials in 1986 trying to smuggle out of the country 60 pieces of jewelry suspected of belonging to Imelda.
The PCGG has possession of the first two collections while the Bureau of Customs has custody of the Roumeliotes collection.
Abcede said the PCGG will have to discuss with finance officials how to get the Roumeliotes collection out of the hands of the customs bureau.
In 2006, the Sotheby’s and Christie’s international auction houses estimated the entire lot (the three collections) to be worth P15 billion.
Abcede said there was no legal impediment to the auction, noting that Imelda was unsuccessful in getting the courts to issue a restraining order in 2006 when the PCGG first tried to auction off the cache.
hey anyone remember the book, "the conjugal dictatorship of fredinANDimelda marcos"? by primitivo mijares?
meron ako nun eh, sino kaya nanghiram?
SOLI MO NA!!!
Imelda may have been beautiful once, but she is a wreck now, living on the echoes of her past.
AND on the interest gained from her stolen fortune.
No amount of fudging on her part will erase the fact that she and her late husband, together with their cronies, STOLE money from the Filipino people. No amount of perpetrating the myth of Yamashita gold will mitigate the conjugal dictatorship.
PROSECUTE IMELDA! When will we have a court un-corrupt enough to actually CONVICT HER???
Granny Auntie Meldy,
You're not answering my calls again. Or have you left your blackberry to your alalay again after having it mistaken as a worn down calculator? Anyway, please come home. I have asked Tito Alfred and Tita Kring to have the Sto. Nino Shrine renovated back to it's usual grandeur to accommodate you and your lifestyle needs. And nobody will pester your sleep, aside from the bazaar currently housed at the People's Center which is next door. Well you can always ride a multicab going to Robinson's, the new mall here. I can't accompany you that much Granny, you know I'm busy struggling to live the life of a junkie who is actually a mutation of your vicarious thrills of materialism at the expense of my mother's clan losing their ancestral land. Now I have to massacre my cousins just to own that dumpsite your allocated to us in Dulag.
Granny, we all very well understand that you're living in your own parallel universe wherein you are the queen, and there's nothing we can do to make your kingdom fall into pieces. So we just prepared your Tacloban palace, and in case you feel threat, just give us a ring. The soldiers of Bethany Hospital's psych ward are always available for you 24/7.
One of your illegitimate grand-nieces,
Lyka Virgin
When will we have a court un-corrupt enough to actually CONVICT HER???
that's why i don't trust the NPA. If they really loved their country they should eliminate imelda first and tim second.
When will we have a court un-corrupt enough to actually CONVICT HER???

i have already accepted that she will never be convicted.
when estrada was convicted and pardoned, it was a moment of utter injustice worse than his sins. why should the citizens follow the rule of law when the president himself was only given a token sentence.
respect is such a simple word but GMA trampled it
LIKE imelda.
and like parasitic infection that always kills the host.
The Marcos children are back in power in the family's northern heartland, but Imelda Marcos failed in a 1992 presidential bid.She has challenged government plans to auction off the collection and has demanded their return but in May the PCGG said the jewellery would be auctioned. The Philippines has said jewellery worth 310 million dollars confiscated from former first lady Imelda Marcos would remain under lock and key in the government's control.
Imelda was already found guilty!
Imelda Marcos was found guilty on corruption charges in the mid-1990s and sentenced to a minimum of 12 years in prison, but the conviction was overturned on appeal. Although a large number of corruption charges were filed against the Marcos clan, no family member has ever been finally convicted in the courts.
and as long as we have people in the highest office who disrespect then we will continue to see despondency in the population.
and so corruption proliferate, come to think of it Imelda's Jewels cost in billions like GMA's
quote:
President Gloria Arroyo may indeed be the most corrupt president the country has ever had, based on amounts lost to the Filipino people in just six corruption scandals over her seven years in office, said independent think-tank IBON Foundation.
The six scandals, which include the fertilizer fund scam, the Jose Pidal bank accounts, the Northrail project, the IMPSA power plant project, the poll automation project and the Macapagal Boulevard project, have collectively cost the Filipino people some P7.3 billion.
I am also sitting on a mountain of gold based on a text I received from relatives asking permission to dig the middle of my ancestral property because the “treasure hunters” claimed there’s is gold buried in it. My husband quickly retorted “oh! You meant Western Union?”

Kristine, you've got a brilliant idea there.
Sorry for the offense, but I think Imelda just mirrors how a significant part of Philippine society is or wants to be.
Impunity is so deeply rooted in Philippine culture and not much will change in 100 years.
Media give her still audience and people just love it. It's like an endless telenovela.
Just more pointless Boldstar whining about everything under the sun, just so she can get it off her flat chest.
Honestly, who gives a fuck?
Tell you what B.S... Let me teach you how to cum for a change. A few much needed orgasms will work wonders for ya. I guarantee the amount of miserable posts out of you get cut down to 1/4 of what they used to be.
Aussie dollars will work fine for compensation.
