Now, I’ve personally known this controversial fashionista named Tim Garcia. We were schoolmates at the University of Asia & the Pacific several years ago. I must admit, given my green age back then, I found myself enthralled by Tim and his uber “branded” lifestyle. Not knowing what a “comptroller” was at the time, I asked them what kind of job his father did.
“We control the money,” Tim proudly answered.
I just don’t understand how people like Bryan Boy and Tim Garcia could possibly live in such a fantasy world and want to project such materialistic and self-centered personas? Sure you can afford Prada, Gucci and Marc Jacobs… but what about your personal character or accomplishments to help your fellow men? Even worse, I cannot fathom why the press would even give people like this space in their magazines, lifestyle columns and “praise-release” blogs?

Entitled “A Comptroller’s Hidden Wealth,” the article exposed a number of properties purchased by Ligot while he was still in active service—among these are two properties in California, USA, a unit in the posh Essensa East Forbes condominium in Fort Bonifacio, and various properties in Malaybalay, Bukidnon.
In the article, NEWSBREAK reported that Ligot failed to declare the assets mentioned in his SALN. The Ombudsman later filed a petition before the Sandiganbayan seeking the forfeiture of some P135 million in assets owned by the Ligot family.
Obtaining copies of the SALN is not always easy. The difficulty often depends on which agency you are requesting the documents from and who the subject of your request is.
The SALNs of senators are often readily available within weeks from the time it was filed. A letter to the Senate Secretary was all it took for NEWSBREAK to get a certified true copy of the SALN of the late Senator Robert Barbers back in 2005.
A similar request sent to the Secretary General of the House of Representatives that same year took a few more weeks to process and ended up with only the photocopies, not the original copies, being released.
But getting the same document from the military establishment is particularly difficult. Ligot’s SALN used in the 2004 NEWSBREAK article was obtained from the office of the Commission on Appointments at the Senate.
The Supreme Court (SC) has denied with finality the petition for reconsideration filed by Carlos Garcia to have the freeze order on his assets lifted... SO BRYANBOY is living in the property of the Armed Forces of the Philippines!
