At the Club Filipino, a weary looking Senator Francis 'Chiz' Escudero announced that he was still undecided on whether to run for president in next year's elections. He also announced that that he has resigned from the Nationalist People's Coalition. There are rumors circulating that Escudero is having problems with campaign funding. He was reported to have met with SMC’s Ramon Ang and was reportedly frustrated with the repartee. ABS-CBN also reported that “Escudero Escudero met with NPC chair emeritus Eduardo 'Danding' Cojuangco Jr. Tuesday night after which he decided to leave the party. He had been a member of the NPC since 1998.”
Manila Times reported in a text message from
Despite resigning from the NPC and holding off his declaration to run for president, Escudero’s supporters, among them Filipinos for Peace, Justice and Prosperity Movement, Magdalo Group, Muslims for Chiz, Moms for Chiz and Youth for Chiz, stood by him, expressing their readiness to boost his 2010 bid.
Lito Banayo, Escudero’s political strategist, said that the senator is popular with those between 18 and 40 years old who comprise 65.2 percent of the voting population.
The NPC’s apparent loss could be the administration party’s apparent gain.
Escudero leaving the coalition, Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita said also on Wednesday, could pave the way for the senator teaming up with Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro, the 2010 standard-bearer of the ruling coalition Lakas-Kampi Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD).
Ermita told a press conference that a Teodoro-Escudero ticket was probable but it would depend on the next move of Escudero or the senator joining the administration party.
In the
When asked if the Lakas-Kampi CMD would still consider Escudero despite the senator being a harsh critic of Mrs. Arroyo, Ermita said that anything is always possible in politics as many things constantly change.
On reports of a possible alliance between the ruling party and the NPC, he held comment because, he said, the matter was internal to the NPC.
Teodoro himself said that Escudero’s resignation from the NPC has given him an edge in next year’s race to MalacaƱang.
Also a former NPC member, he added that a candidate with backing of a political party has an “advantage” than those without.
While Escudero’s resignation surprised many, a lawmaker from the militant Bayan Muna party-list group welcomed the move.
It is “a major political development in the presidential race. His move to bolt the NPC is a welcome move that should develop his capacity to take on many people’s issues in performing his duties to the people,” Rep. Satur Ocampo said.
Ocampo dared other aspirants to also take the stand of Escudero.

'indecision' is not for someone who wants to be chief executive.
i've read in a broadsheet that it's still uncertain if Senador Escudero's party would support him. Also, Senator Legarda is considering becoming Senator Villar's running mate..
for me this is quite a sad news. I hope Senator Escudero runs, but I guess he still is inexperienced as compared to..the other candidates.
If he doesn't run, good riddance. Walang ginawang maganda si chiz para sa bicol, particularly his and MY family's hometown of Sorsogon, which remains mired in poverty and burdened with ELECTRICITY RATES HIGHER THAN MANILA. He could have done so many things in the fields of geothermal electrification and tourism but he just sat on his hands because he never wanted Bicolanos to uplift their standing in life; hindi na niya mabibili ang botante sa GIN lang kung yumaman ang mga Bicolano.
I also heard rumors that his only real purpose to run was to MAKE MONEY, just like MIKEY ARROYO.
We don't need the likes of chiz. He's a bloody hypocrite and a liar. He distances himself from villar because he thinks he's crooked, yet allies himself with ERAP. WTF, chiz, do you really think we're STUPID?
Danding: who moved my Chiz?
GO CHEEZ... GO UPIS... GO AMIEL!

GO UPIS ... GO GO GO!
A post on Chiz and the elections by an unnamed author, and in comes yet another bunch of "I love Amiel" and "I love UPIS/UP" posts.
Before we know it, these people will be frothing in the mouth again about Ellen Tordesillas and Jun Lozada.
Sorry to have to say this, but this blog loses credibility with the quality of the comments posted.
A good argument that, with these supposed to be the the intelligent class, maybe we really are NOT ready for democracy.
Ngek! Chiz linked up with the Magdalo who subsequently declare him "their" candidate.
What is Chiz doing with those losers?
It's Amiel's blog so FUCK EVERYONE!
Chiz and Trillanes. Yuck!
Magdalo accreditation was denied by the COMELEC. Saan sila pupulutin ngayon? Now that "their" presidential candidate has lost a party, they have nothing to offer him either.
Maybe its hubris. Chiz peaked early so he may have gotten cocky. But the entry of Noynoy changed the political equation. Not that we really care for Noynoy, but lets at least admit that the yellow army demographics are similar to Chiz' in that they share a young following (18-40years old) and affected his survey standing.
My take is this. Both Chiz and the Magdalo have a tendency to get cocky. Maybe its their youth. Okay lang. They have time pa naman to reflect on their mistakes. But if they repeat this arrogance based on temporary numbers, they're digging their political graves.
Chiz tried to play with the big boys and got burned. Maybe its his baggage. So young, yet so trapo.
Kung maging running mate ni Chiz si Gibo, that would make him an administration candidate. Paano na ang Magdalo pag ganun? They would be in bed with their JAILERS!
Wish more people can read right thru Chiz Escudero's BS.
The way the presidentiables are posturing, it will only take Gibo 20% of the votes to win, he will not be a majority president, nevertheless he will still be president.
If Noynoy can rake in 20-23%; Erap 20%; Chiz 15%; Villar 23%…roughly speaking. Villar’s millions (billion) can still buy a lot of votes, Noynoy’s emotional vote could still be substantial…bottomline, the opposition vote will be divided. Will a miracle happen along the way? Will some of these wannabes step down and alow just one person to represent the opposition?
Whatever the outcome, we'll still have a new president, and perhaps the same old reactions, oppositions, controversies, exposes, etc., new administration, old Philippines...life goes on...
MUST READ FROM DONAVICTORINA'S PAUL FAROL....http://us.asiancorrespondent.com/paul-farol-pinoybuzz/does-the-philippines-need-more-ex-m.htm
I have seen his declaration of resigning from NPC. CHIZ is purely TRAPO!! he said that he decided to resign from NPC because first in running a higher office no one should be dictated by a group or a specific person on his decisions.... BULLCRAP.... why made that realization now? isn't it being a CONGRESSMAN and a SENATOR is also a HIGHER POSITION and in that time he is with the NPC...TRAPO ka pa rin CHIZ!! nangangamoy grabe..
Querubin under Money Villar's ticket. Ewwwww. Isn't that bedding with the enemy? As Lola Ellen said, some senatoriables has sold their souls. Think Querubin.
COCK CHEEZE ESCUDEO means KUPAL.
I pity Chiz now... I read in a newspaper that the reason he resigned from NPC is because he didn't get the financial assistance he asked from Danding (parang he asked for 1 billion but Danding promised only 200 million). My dad is a native of Camiling Tarlac and the people there would vote for whoever Danding endorses but they are wishing it's not gonna be Chiz. It's Gibo everywhere in the 1st District of Tarlac.
Well, to Chiz "Blood is thicker than water"...
